James Picken
Jim Picken is an Associate Director of Music Ministry at Knox Presbyterian Church, an organ recitalist with several recordings to his credit, a respected accompanist and teacher. His musical training began in Calgary. He earned a BMus at the University of Victoria, an MA at Oxford University (England), and performance diplomas with the Royal Conservatory of Toronto and the Western Board of Music. Since returning to Calgary in 1993, he has performed as an organ soloist in recitals at Jack Singer Concert Hall, Knox United Church, Grace Presbyterian Church, the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer, Christ Church (Anglican), First Baptist Church, Central United Church, Mount Royal College and St Laurence Anglican Church. He has also organized fund-raising concerts for AIDS projects and for Amnesty International involving local choirs and musicians.
